Music
There are a variety of bands and musical groups at
Christ Church. Music at the Sunday services varies; from a few instrumentalists to a band, from the organ to the orchestra which plays on special
occasions, from an informal group of singers to a variety of choirs for children or adults. There are many opportunities for those with a talent in
music and desire to use their gifts in worship at Christ Church. We hope that there is something for everyone.
The worship band lead the music at the morning all-age and evening celebration services. We attend the London Music Minstry Conference which serves the local church in helping churches, leadership teams and individuals to serve God with the gifts he has given them in music.
The Girls’ Choir seeks to encourage the girls to worship God and grow in faith as they lead the congregation in songs both new and old regularly throughout the year. Highlights of the year are the busy Easter and Christmas periods, the annual Summer Concert and the Choral Festival. Choir Practice is at 9.30 am each Sunday morning.
The Boys’ Choir enjoys a wide range of music, taking part in worship in morning services and touring annually in Wales and performing in the Summer Choral Festival and the Beckenham Festival where they have been frequent award winners. They meet on Tuesday evenings from 6.00 – 7.00 when new members, aged 8 and over, are always welcome.
The Christ Church Singers contribute to worship regularly, particularly on special occasions such as Remembrance Day and the Advent and Christmas Carol services. They also contribute to the Summer Choral Festival and occasional recitals. They rehearse in church on Friday evenings from 8.15 – 9.30 and new singers are always welcome.
The Trio is focused on reflective music particularly in the context of Communion, prayer and meditation on Sunday Evenings. They welcome additional singers or instrumentalists who are able to join them on an occasional basis.
There are frequent reciprocal visits with our mission partners and members of the congregation to strengthen our links with them and increase our understanding of their work.
